The Universe as a Manifestation of Allah’s Existence
This universe, vast and expansive, resembles a grand book, where every page bears testimony to the existence of Allah.
Shining stars, flowing rivers, lush valleys, and chirping birds—each of these calls out, proclaiming that they have a Creator, Sustainer, and Protector who manages and oversees them.
Every particle of the universe is a witness to the existence of Allah.
When we see a beautiful palace, we immediately recognize that a skilled architect must have built it. Similarly, how could the sprawling galaxies, the earth and the heavens, the oceans and mountains exist on their own? There must be a Creator for all, and that Creator is none other than Allah!
Arabic Text:
أَمْ خُلِقُوا مِنْ غَيْرِ شَيْءٍ أَمْ هُمُ الْخَالِقُونَ
Translation:
“Were they created without anything, or are they the creators themselves?”

The Order of the Universe
Has the sun ever risen from the west instead of the east, or has the moon left its place to drift elsewhere? Never! Everything moves according to a fixed system. This order cannot happen by itself—it is a manifestation of Allah’s power.
Arabic Text:
إِنَّ فِي خَلْقِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَاخْتِلَافِ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ لَآيَاتٍ لِأُولِي الْأَلْبَابِ
Translation:
“Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of night and day are signs for those of understanding.”

Testimony of the Human Conscience
When a person speaks the truth, they feel peace in their heart. When they lie, a sense of unease arises. Who placed this awareness in our hearts? Allah has instilled this light of consciousness in every human being, allowing discernment between right and wrong.
Arabic Text:
وَنَفْسٍ وَمَا سَوَّاهَا، فَأَلْهَمَهَا فُجُورَهَا وَتَقْوَاهَا
Translation:
“By the soul and He who perfected it, then inspired it with its wickedness and its righteousness.”

Tawhid (Monotheism)
The precise order of the universe, the harmony of the earth and sky, and the flawless arrangement of nature testify to a single reality: everything is the masterpiece of one Creator. Were there multiple gods, the system would collapse, and the universe would fall into chaos.
Arabic Text:
لَوْ كَانَ فِيهِمَا آلِهَةٌ إِلَّا اللَّهُ لَفَسَدَتَا
Translation:
“If there were other gods besides Allah, the heavens and the earth would have been corrupted.”

Just as a masterpiece belongs to one artist, this magnificent universe is the creation of a single Creator. Every prayer, every sigh of a restless soul, every prostration is testimony that Allah alone governs all.
Definition of Tawhid
The term “Tawhid” linguistically means “to consider one as singular or unique.”
Technical Definition:
In Shariah, Tawhid refers to recognizing Allah as One in His essence, attributes, and actions, and not associating any partner with Him.
Three Fundamental Aspects of Tawhid
1. Tawhid al-Dhat (Oneness of Essence)
Belief that Allah is unique and unparalleled in His essence—having no beginning, no end, and no equivalent.
Arabic Text:
لَيْسَ كَمِثْلِهِ شَيْءٌ
Translation:
“There is nothing like Him.”

2. Tawhid al-Sifat (Oneness of Attributes)
Allah’s attributes and actions are unique and without any partner. Allah has many descriptive names, known as Asma’ul Husna.
Arabic Text:
وَلِلَّهِ الْأَسْمَاءُ الْحُسْنَىٰ فَادْعُوهُ بِهَا
Translation:
“Allah has the most beautiful names, so call upon Him by them.”

Belief in Allah’s attributes means affirming that He alone is the Creator, Sustainer, and Provider of all life, death, rain, and crops.
Arabic Text:
اللَّهُ خَالِقُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ
Translation:
“Allah is the Creator of all things.”

Arabic Text:
وَمَا مِن دَابَّةٍ فِي الْأَرْضِ إِلَّا عَلَى اللَّهِ رِزْقُهَا
Translation:
“And there is no creature on earth whose sustenance is not upon Allah.”

Arabic Text:
أَفَرَأَيْتُمُ الْمَاءَ الَّذِي تَشْرَبُونَ أَأَنتُمْ أَنزَلْتُمُوهُ مِنَ الْمُزْنِ أَمْ نَحْنُ الْمُنْزِلُونَ
Translation:
“Have you considered the water you drink? Did you send it down from the clouds, or are We the ones who send it down?”

Abraham’s Call to Monotheism
Arabic Text:
الَّذِي خَلَقَنِي فَهُوَ يَهْدِينِ
وَالَّذِي هُوَ يُطْعِمُنِي وَيَسْقِينِ
وَإِذَا مَرِضْتُ فَهُوَ يَشْفِينِ
وَالَّذِي يُمِيتُنِي ثُمَّ يُحْيِينِ
Translation:
“He is the one who created me and guides me. He provides me with food and drink. When I fall ill, He heals me. He causes me to die and then brings me to life.”

Arabic Text:
الَّذِي خَلَقَ الْمَوْتَ وَالْحَيَاةَ لِيَبْلُوَكُمْ أَيُّكُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلًا
Translation:
“He who created death and life to test you as to which of you is best in deeds.”

Tawhid al-Ibadah (Oneness in Worship)
Worship belongs solely to Allah. Prayers, prostration, fear, and hope should all be directed to Him alone.
Arabic Text:
فَمَن كَانَ يَرْجُو لِقَاءَ رَبِّهِ فَلْيَعْمَلْ عَمَلًا صَالِحًا وَلَا يُشْرِكْ بِعِبَادَةِ رَبِّهِ أَحَدًا
Translation:
“So whoever hopes to meet his Lord, let him do righteous deeds and not associate anyone in the worship of his Lord.”

Arabic Text:
وَاعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ وَلَا تُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا
Translation:
“Worship Allah and do not associate anything with Him.”

إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ
Translation:
“You alone we worship, and You alone we seek help from.”

Benefits of Belief in Tawhid
Peace and Tranquility
One who believes in Allah never worries, for they know everything is in His hands.
Arabic Text:
أَلَا بِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ تَطْمَئِنُّ الْقُلُوبُ
Translation:
“Indeed, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.”

Trust in Allah
Arabic Text:
لَوْ أَنَّكُمْ تَوَكَّلْتُمْ عَلَى اللَّهِ حَقَّ تَوَكُّلِهِ لَرَزَقَكُمْ كَمَا يَرْزُقُ الطَّيْرَ
Translation:
“If you were to rely upon Allah with proper reliance, He would provide for you as He provides for the birds.”

Success in the Hereafter
This world is temporary, but Paradise is eternal. Only those who believe in Allah are rightful heirs of Paradise.
Light of Tawhid and Awareness of Freedom
When one accepts Allah as the One and trusts completely in Him, the heart is illuminated with peace and obedience. True freedom comes from relying solely on Allah and progressing fearlessly in the path of truth.
This trust empowered Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him) to face the fire fearlessly, enabled Prophet Musa (peace be upon him) to confront Pharaoh’s tyranny, and gave the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ the courage to challenge falsehoods.
True freedom is found in reliance on Allah, independent of fear or worldly constraints, moving steadily on the path of righteousness.
